It was at this time that the Ambulance Staff of the Cornwall Ambulance Service were Founding a new charity namely FLEET. Front Line Emergency Equipment Trust and Eric was asked if he would consider being the Hon. Treasurer.
Since accepting the post in 1989 Eric has been a leading ambassador for the Charity and the Ambulance Service.
Eric has always managed the accounts for the charity as well as organising meetings, minutes, and AGMs. Dealing with Trust Deeds and the Charity Commission. He has attended functions, fund raising events, cheque presentations and on many occasions been responsible for large donations from the Rotary Clubs, Lions and other charity organisations.
Eric has since retired from the bank, but continues to fulfil the role of the FLEET Treasurer and our records and accountancy is immaculate, every donation is recorded and acknowledged, every penny is accounted for. All sponsor forms and gift aid applications are properly recorded and dealt with through the Inland Revenue; this is a thankless task and one which takes many hours to perfect to achieve the standard to which we perform.
Eric has filled this post of over twenty years and has recorded well over £1,250,000 through our books, he has seen many changes from the days of Cornwall Ambulance Service when we had very little equipment , through Westcountry Ambulance Service and now South Western Ambulance Service but his dedication and interest in the Ambulance Service and FLEET has never faltered."
