The Cornish coastline and seas can be a hazardous place, the Search and Rescue service of 771 Squadron Royal Navy provides a response to 999 calls where casualties may be at sea or located on cliffs. Paramedics, Allan Cottle and Dave Pascoe from Falmouth Ambulance Station, setup an initiative with the Squadron to improve the medical capabilities of the Search and Rescue team. The paramedics used their own time and work time to train and flying on the aircraft, treating casualties. A total of 12 front line Trust staff work on a rota basis, with one member of staff going out each Wednesday with a search and rescue team from 771 squadron. This scheme is the only one of its kind operating throughout the countr FLEET provided the Squadron with its first medical equipment prior to funding given by the MOD.
